The Future in Sight for the IAQG
The IAQG originated to harmonize quality standards in the aviation, space, and defense supply chain and bringing organizations together to share best practices. The IAQG has progressed with an internationally recognized certification scheme supported by OASIS (Online Aerospace Supplier Information System), the industry's only online audit and certification database. Recognized by IAQG partners and stakeholders, OASIS continues to progress the IAQG's use of data to target improvement.
Not resting on previous achievements, the IAQG is focused on the future and how the industry is changing evidenced by new manufacturing and information technologies.
Recently, the IAQG invited specialists to provide a perspective regarding how changes could impact the industry and our expectations. Big Bang Disruption author Larry Downs spoke to the IAQG about trending disruptions such as additive manufacturing, blockchain, smart factories, connected aircraft and the internet of things for aerospace and materials. The supply chain, as we know it, will transform due to information being more readily available for all uses and this disruption can lead to opportunities depending on how businesses respond versus being surprised by changes.
Business quality specialist and author of The Quest for Excellence Peter Martens shared how leveraging quality as a business differentiator will continue to evolve from inspection to prevention. Peter highlighted that a Total Quality Enterprise means shifting from business reactiveness to proactive thinking and includes examining quality from a business value proposition as opposed to failure cost.
The changing technologies will continue to impact the dynamics of the supply chain and this gives the IAQG the prospect to consider how we can use new technologies in the way we identify predictive opportunities, audit and certify. Our future focus will be modernizing data-value to the stakeholder providing the simplest and most cost-efficient way to drive desired performance. It is up to all of us to start the Transformation Process by looking at quality with fresh pair of business eyes!
