DO-178C Basic Training C1739

Topics: Quality, Safety & Maintenance

This seminar is offered in China only and presented in Mandarin Chinese. The course materials are bilingual (English and Chinese).

With the development of Chinese civil aviation industry, the importance of airborne software is key.  During the previous certification of ARJ21 aircraft, airborne software was concerning. Now,  the certification process of C919 aircraft has also reached its peak. Learning how to correctly understand and strictly meet the objectives DO-178C becomes very essential for the people who is developing or is going to develop airborne software.  This seminar aims to deliver a thorough understanding on the core concept and the utilization of DO-178C.

RTCA DO-178C is the worldwide accepted standard for civil aviation software development and certification. Compliance with the objectives of DO-178C is the primary means for meeting airworthiness requirements and obtaining approval of airborne software in TC/STC/TSO, etc..

This two-day seminar will introduce attendees to the core concept and the utilization of DO-178C, with topics such as system safety and its certification, software lifecycle processes, software lifecycle data, objectives for each software level, variation in independence and control category for each software level, additional considerations, and combined usage of DO-178C and its supplements.

Learning Objectives

By attending this seminar, you will be able to:

  • Recognize the background, purpose and requirements of DO-178C
  • Construct a software lifecycle according to the software level and the specific characteristic of target software
  • Write and verify software plans and standards
  • Develop and verify software requirements, design descriptions, code, test cases, test procedures, test results, while correctly identify the trace data among these data
  • Perform software configuration management and quality assurance process

Mr. Yunming Wang

CTO of Shanghai Aviation Technologies Co., Ltd.Mr. Yunming WANG obtained his bachelor's degree from Fudan University in Mathematics Department, his Master's degree from Fudan University in Computer Science Department, his PhD from INRIA in Computer Science Department.

During his research and working experience in France, Mr. WANG has been deeply involved in software development, software certification and tool qualifications. He has accumulated rich experience in software implementation and certification under the circumstance of airworthiness requirements based on DO-178C standard and its supplements. As a member of SC-205/WG-71, the editorial committee of DO-178C standard series, Mr. WANG participates in the formulation of DO-178C, DO-330, DO-331, DO-332, DO-333, DO-278A, DO-248C and other standards.

Since Mr. WANG returned to China, He has been providing a wide spectrum of high-level training and consulting services for domestic enterprises and institutions by introducing advanced software development technologies, promoting normative software development processes, interpreting industry standards of safety-critical software development and assisting in projects of standard application and certification. He has been offering basic training, advanced training, practical training and DER training of airworthiness standards for years.

Mr. WANG published dozens of technical papers both in China and abroad. In his book " Best Practice for Airborne Software Production Workflow”, he puts forward a mathematical model of lifecycle and a complete set of best practice which is rigorous, standardized and easy to conduct. In addition, he leads a team and develops a software lifecycle integrated development environment to implement his ideas and best practices in the book. It has been regarded as very innovative work and has won high praise from the industry.
