Anyone who is involved with automotive industry design, development and manufacturing needs to have some knowledge of power electronics. This need becomes more for the xEV automotive applications. Individuals involved in design, development, testing and manufacturing of power electronics product for the xEVs automotive applications, such as analog and digital engineers, thermal and packaging engineers, test and regulatory engineers, quality and manufacturing engineers will all benefit from an advanced understanding of power electronics for today’s modern vehicle applications.
Dr. Musavi has over twenty years of industry experience with strong leadership and management background and a proven track record of taking several products to mass production. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Washington State University Vancouver (WSU Vancouver). Prior to joining WSU, he held several industry positions, including a Design Engineering position at EMS Technologies Inc., Lead Design Engineer position at DRS Pivotal Power, Group Leader at Alpha Technologies, Manager of Research and Engineering at Delta-Q Technologies Corp., and the most recent position as Director of Engineering at CUI Inc. While working at Delta-Q Technologies, a leading provider of battery charging solutions, he led a team of researchers and engineers to conduct research and development on the next generation of on-board battery chargers for electric vehicles. He developed a 3.3 kW on-board charger in collaboration with Delphi Automotive LLP. Dr. Musavi is an author/co-author of more than forty-five journal and conference papers as well as a book chapter, and two patents. He is a recipient of the first best paper award from IEEE Industry Applications Society. Prof. Musavi earned a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, a M.A.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
