Topics: Quality, Safety & Maintenance
This course is verified by Probitas Authentication as meeting the AS9104/3A requirements for continuing Professional Development.
Aerospace manufacturers seek to improve quality, efficiency, cost, and delivery of their products. The best way to scale production and keep your processes on track is using APQP and PPAP tools in product development. AS9145 standardizes the requirements for the Product Development Process (PDP) with these tools, and now the AESQ has also established and deployed the AS13100 Standard for engine suppliers which addresses how to apply the tools to their work. Quality management practitioners in aviation, and aerospace engine suppliers specifically need the training on AS13100 requirements found in Chapters B and C offered in this course.
By successfully completing this course, you’ll be able to:
This course is for suppliers and quality product development practitioners experienced in the management of AS13000, RM13145, and AS9145 requirements in the aerospace engine sector and who lead, develop, implement, maintain and/or review APQP and PPAP Process in their organizations.
It is designed specifically for job roles such as: Manufacturing Engineering Managers and Engineers, Quality Managers and Engineers, Project Managers and Engineers, Customer Service Managers, Purchase Managers and Buyers, Supplier Quality Engineers and Managers, Sales Managers and Sales Engineers, Maintenance Managers and Engineers, Technicians, Facility Managers and Engineers and Technicians, Production Managers and Engineers, Design Managers and Engineers, Process Managers and Engineers, and Special Process Managers/Engineers.
Before taking this course, learners must have at minimum solid, advanced knowledge and experience in leading, developing, implementing, and reviewing effectiveness of APAP and PPAP processes. We strongly recommend that participants first take C1917 Requirement for Advanced Product Quality Planning and Product Part Approval to gain a complete view of the use of these powerful tools in product management processes.
Participants may also wish to take other courses in the SAE quality portfolio to support their competency with AS13100 tools. These courses include:
You must complete all course contact hours and successfully pass the learning assessment to obtain CEUs.
Deborah Oberhausen or Dario Yamamoto
Deborah Oberhausen has a combined 35 plus years of experience in automotive and aerospace quality management. Her experiences include intensive support of shop floor activities, supplier development and quality system development, implementation and certification in a variety of industries including coatings, cold and hot forging, assembly, coil coating and automotive adhesives for both large and small companies. Throughout her career she held multiple Quality Leadership roles within manufacturing sites and corporate offices. These vast experiences led Deb to the status of a Quality Systems Fellow at Pratt and Whitney.
While serving as the Quality Manager for United Technologies Corporation (UTC) Deb became involved in the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) where her leadership skills were quickly recognized and put to use. During her involvement she served as the Co-Chair for the Product and Supply Chain Continuous Improvement committee for more than five years leading the development of much of the content in the Supply Chain Management Handbook (SCMH). Her biggest contribution to the aerospace industry is the initiation and leadership she provided for the development of the AS9145 standard, Advanced Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process(PPAP) for Aerospace. Deb is now considered the “Grandmother” of APQP for aerospace.
Dario Yamamoto has worked in the Aerospace and Aviation Industries since 2004. He began as a plant, engineering and quality manager for manufacturing and aviation companies and has eleven years’ experience in education as an Engineering Program Coordinator, university professor, and a Certified Bombardier Aerospace Structural Assemblies Instructor. Dario gained expertise in AS9110 maintenance and manufacturing experience working with companies such as Alpha Star Aviation Services (Saudi Arabia), Turborreactores ITR, Ketema Aerospace Mexico, and the Aeronautical University in Queretaro (UNAQ). He conducts third- party audits to aerospace manufacturing standard AS9100, as well as offering instructional and consulting services on gap analysis, internal auditing, and development and implementation of quality management systems to AS9100, AS9110, OHSAS 18001, and ISO9001. Dario has developed and implemented NADCAP special and manufacturing processes, process mapping, root cause analysis, 8-D and 5-Whys Problem Solving, risk assessment and operations staff training and certification.
Dario is a global AS9100 Lead Aerospace Industry Experience Auditor and an SAE International Instructor for courses related to SAE’s AS13100 standard such as C1501 Common Training for DPRV Personnel and C1878 MSA Requirements. He teaches C2211 AS9100D Third-Party Lead Auditor, C1877 Developing and Qualifying an Alternate Inspection Plan, and C1917 AS9145D Requirements for APQP and PPAP.
Dario holds a B.S degree in Metallurgical Chemical Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), is an AS9100:2016 Rev. D aerospace industry auditor certified by Probitas™ Authentication, and an ISO9001:2015 QMS Lead Auditor certified by Exemplar Global.
