A World In Motion

Our program brings Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education to life for students in grades K-8 with hands-on activities.

Caterpillar Communities

A global leader in size, scope, reach and character, Caterpillar Inc. is a genuine enabler of sustainable world progress and opportunity, defined by the brand attributes of global leadership, innovation, and sustainability. Caterpillar is the world's leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. Caterpillar, Inc. has pledged $25,000 to support the A World In Motion® (AWIM) program in Caterpillar communities.

Launching the AWIM program in various Caterpillar communities provides students with exposure to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), while relating these topics to real-world scenarios. With a focus on the JetToy Challenge, the objective is to engage students in STEM subjects, and eventually careers, through the AWIM program. Without AWIM, these students may not have had the opportunity to participate in engaging, hands-on, project-based learning, or to realize the opportunities for careers in STEM fields.

  • Encourage, excite and increase participation and performance in STEM subjects
  • To reach 600 elementary students in CAT communities by introducing them to the award-winning AWIM JetToy challenge
  • Provide 15-20 hours of curriculum content and experiential learning focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects
  • To have 50% of students demonstrate a 50% knowledge gain in math and science concepts
  • To have 75% of students show increased interest in math and science
  • To have 50% of students show an interest in an engineering career after participating in the AWIM program
