A World In Motion®
SAE's A World In Motion® (AWIM®) PreK-12 program brings STEM education to life with an inquiry-based learning experience. We combine practical, hands-on learning and mentorship to provide equitable access to STEM.

FCA Foundation Communities

The FCA Foundation has established a proud legacy of empowering people in the communities where we live and work. Sponsored exclusively by FCA Group LLC, the Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) organization governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of six corporate executives. Since its inception in 1953, the Foundation has awarded more than $500 million in charitable grants. The FCA Foundation currently focuses its efforts on four key areas: Education, Military Support, Diversity and Youth Development.

The FCA Foundation has generously awarded support for A World In Motion (AWIM) that will help inspire and educate nearly 3,000 elementary and middle school students by teaching them critical math and science concepts in a hands-on, interactive program while exposing them to the possibilities that exist in STEM-related careers.

"FCA hopes that by engaging students at an early age, we can inspire the next generation of thought-leaders, innovators and problem-solvers that are so vital to our industry and America's future," said Mark M. Chernoby, Senior Vice President of Engineering, FCA Group LLC.

Objective

By providing young students with exposure to STEM education and STEM careers, they have the opportunity to realize the importance of STEM and how it relates to everyday activities. As these students mature, and continue with STEM curriculum, they have the tools to seriously consider a career in a STEM field. Without AWIM, these students may not have had the opportunity to participate in engaging, hands-on, project-based learning, or to realize the opportunities for careers in STEM fields. The programs supported by the SAE Foundation encourage employee volunteerism and the generation of community goodwill through the efforts of participating volunteers.

Goals/Expectations

  • Expand distribution of the AWIM curriculum
  • Deliver the programs through traditional classroom, after school, and/or out of school program models to maximize student reach
  • Provide training and incentives to teachers to pair with an industry volunteer in the classroom to help deliver the programs.
