Billing itself as the "first-ever open-source race team," Perrinn myTeam is inviting students, professional engineers, and others to contribute and share data for development of a possible sports car entry at Le Mans in 2015. Via the interactive website, people can access drawings, CAD models, and even financial budgets. With everything from livery design and team wear to suspension and aero data available online, the Perrinn myTeam experience will, the company says, enable everybody to contribute regardless of one's age or experience level. So much data about the car will be available that it will be possible to 3D-print a model of the car or download a version of it so it can be "driven" on a PC or simulator. The idea comes from Yorkshire-based racecar designer Nicolas Perrin, an engineer who has worked in Formula One and sports car racing.
