NHTSA seeks answers as it plans to mandate V2V technologies

The U.S. NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) is seeking information and insights from automotive and related industries as it moves to mandate certain vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) technologies for improved safety. The agency estimates the per-vehicle cost to consumers at about $350 and asks in its official Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM): "Do commenters believe that these costs are reasonably representative for the time frames identified…If not, can commenters provide data to support alternative cost estimates?
