Touchless variable gap sensor

The two-piece magnetic Hall-effect variable gap sensor from PIHER Sensors and Controls S.A. maintains stable electrical output and specified linearity on mobile shafts, despite radial and axial movement. The sensor is immune to typical radial and axial play on mobile shafts where significant misalignment often results in poor operational performance and labor-intensive maintenance. The play resistance performance is achieved via a circular arc magnet (where 360º rotation angle is unnecessary) that is attached to rotating shafts or assemblies, such as boom loaders, skid steers, buckets and hitch arms and the electronics module to the chassis (or vice versa). More than 50 million cycles, stable electrical output and the specified linearity is maintained between both sensor packages, despite any radial and axial play (such as ±1.5 mm to ±7 mm and upward, respectively).  For more information, visit www.piher.net.
