Formula SAE Lincoln and Formula SAE Electric, both part of SAE International’s Collegiate Design Series, will take place June 21-24 at the Lincoln Airpark in Lincoln, Neb.
About 110 college teams are expected to participate in the two events - 80 in Formula SAE Lincoln, and 30 in Formula SAE Electric.
Both Formula SAE Lincoln and Formula SAE Electric are engineering design competitions for undergraduate and graduate students. The engineering design goal for both competitions is for teams is to develop and construct a single-seat race car for the non-professional weekend autocross racer with the best overall package of design, construction, performance and cost.
Formula SAE promotes careers and excellence in engineering as it encompasses all aspects of the automotive industry, including research, design, manufacturing, testing, developing, marketing, management and finances.
While SAE’s Collegiate Design Competition hosts several Formula events, Formula SAE Electric is the only one in which participants use an electric motor.
The featured event of the competitions is the endurance race. Both endurance races begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 24.
