SAE International Honors A. Larry Gurule with James M. Crawford Award for Outstanding Technical Committee Service

SAE International announces it is honoring A. Larry Gurule with the 2018 James M. Crawford Technical Standards Board Outstanding Achievement Award.
The award recognizes individuals for outstanding service in the technical committee activities of the Society. This includes valuable contributions to the work of SAE International technical committees, unusual leadership in the activities of an SAE International technical committee, significant contributions as a representative of the Society to the accomplishments of technical committees of other organizations or of government agencies, and outstanding contributions to SAE International technical committee work in the form of research, test methods and procedures, and/or development of standards.
The James M. Crawford Fund was established in 1953 and honors James Crawford, who was SAE International President in 1945. In 2013, the award previously known as the Technical Standards Board Outstanding Achievement Award, was renamed the James M. Crawford Technical Standards Board Outstanding Achievement Award.
Gurule is an experienced proven visionary who has consistently delivered value on time and at or under budget in process and knowledge driven environments including product development, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, retail, distribution, and service/process industries. He has extensive experience as a Business Analyst/Consultant specializing in business and systems analysis, solution architecture, operational process modeling, project management, configuration management, change management, order management, bill of materials management, supply chain management including sourcing and specification management, governance and control management, and instructional design & delivery. His work spans industry segments that include Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Distribution, Medical Devices, Electronics, Heavy Equipment, Consumer Products and Energy Trading. Gurule has successfully architected, orchestrated, implemented and deployed process-based enterprise software technology for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Material/Enterprise Resource Planning (MRP/ERP) initiatives essential to the local and global operations of his clients.
Gurule has a continuing and growing presence in the Configuration Management community through his active involvement including: speaking at conferences, teaching graduate level CM courses, writing articles, serving as Vice Chairman of the SAE G-33 committee (authors of EIA-649B, The Standard for Configuration Management ANSI/EIA 649B, GEIA-836, CM Data exchange and Interoperability, and EIA-HB 649A, CM Guidance for Implementation). In addition, he is the project sponsor and principle author of the “C” revision of the CM standard, SAE/EIA-649, adopted and used global by both governments and commercial Enterprises.
