Dr. Raman Venkatesh Named Executive Vice President and COO of SAE International

Raman Venkatesh, PhD, has been appointed as the new Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of SAE International.

David L. Schutt, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of SAE Group, said Dr. Venkatesh will provide organizational leadership for the organization, along with new insights to help build toward future success.

“Raman is a perfect fit for SAE International – not just now, but for the years to come,” Dr. Schutt said. “He is a highly successful and distinguished global executive with more than 20 years of leadership, managerial and technology experience in several industries. He has a passion for the work we do and is a perfect complement to our already outstanding executive team.”

Dr. Venkatesh has held executive or technology-focused positions with KX Technologies (part of Berkshire Hathaway), Unilever Group, and Calgon Carbon.  Most recently, he served as CEO of a strategic business unit for Eureka Forbes Limited in Bangalore India, a major consumer products company.  He balances his commercial experience with mission delivery through several years of business development at the American Chemical Society.

Throughout his professional career, Dr. Venkatesh has been responsible for strategy, technology and business development in both not-for and for-profit entities. He has built excellent partnerships around the world with commercial, government, academic and society organizations. Dr. Venkatesh has a strong track record of driving top line growth, as well as enhancing profitability. His experience includes strategic start-ups as well as turn-around businesses; he has led mergers and acquisitions and has worked with strategic equity and venture capital groups. Above all, he has successfully led a variety of executive-level and professional teams to consistently deliver high performance.

Dr. Venkatesh holds several patents, citations and has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals from his early career.  He has received many awards and international recognitions, notably the American Hero award from ACS. He holds a BE degree with honors in chemical engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science; a PhD and master’s in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh; and an Executive MBA from the Katz School of Business, University of Pittsburgh. He was honored as Outstanding Graduate Student during his time at University of Pittsburgh.
