- The first workshop, “OBD History,” will be held March 12 from 9:30 a.m.-Noon. This session will provide historical, legal, logical and standardization background of on-board diagnostics (OBD). Speakers will include Janean Potter of General Motors; and Mark Laleman and Susan Wagers of Ford Motor Company. The workshop will include a question and answers session.
- The second workshop, “Diagnostic/OBD Communication,” will be held March 13 from 6:15-9:15 p.m. and will provide an overview of the standards relevant to OBD development from a communication point of view. Participants will learn which standards are relevant for which part of the communication from a scantool to an ECU. An examination of the specifications will be provided as well as an overview of the upcoming changes to communication according to SAE J1979 to UDS. Participants will include: Robert Gruszczynski of Volkswagen, Lars Ungewitter of Vector, and Eleni Patrikiou of BMW. Dinner will be included with the price of admission.
