“We are very excited to have AVL take such a leading role in the Alliance,” says John Tintinalli, SAE’s Director of Innovation and IAMTS’s Secretariat. “Given AVL’s long-standing history as an innovation driven partner in passenger and commercial vehicle engineering, their participation is extremely important. Building up a diverse, influential, global community of expert organizations is essential to our mission, and we welcome the inclusion of additional members to help tackle all the great and necessary work that needs to be done.”
From AVL´s perspective, explains Georg List, Vice President of Corporate Strategy at AVL, there are compelling reasons to join IAMTS: “We see great value in joining an initiative where US, Europe and China – represented by such important standardization partners as SAE, TÜV Süd and CATARC – commit to tackle such a complex issue as testing of automated vehicles and advanced mobility together with industry partners. It is an ambitious mission which AVL is keen to contribute to and we hope that other regions and many more automotive industry partners will join.”
AVL’s joining coincides with the first IAMTS workshop, which was held in Munich on May 20 with more than 15 stakeholders in advanced mobility testing from Europe, China and the United States. IAMTS addressable domains include physical and virtual testing related to automated vehicles, connected vehicles, dynamic wireless charging, and other smart mobility systems, services and environments.
