Department of Defense Maintenance Symposium Focuses on Weapon System and Equipment Readiness; Dec. 12-15, 2022

The Symposium is the Only Department of Defense (DoD) Event Focused Exclusively on the Maintenance of Weapon Systems and Equipment

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 11, 2022) – The DoD Maintenance Symposium, along with SAE International’s co-located Defense Maintenance and Logistics Exhibition, is the only DoD event solely focused on maintenance of weapon systems and equipment. More than 1,600 members of the defense maintenance and sustainment communities will convene to discuss current and future initiatives, address challenges, share lessons learned, as well as establish and maintain valuable networks. The symposium also hosts the annual Secretary of Defense Maintenance Awards ceremony to recognize the best DoD maintenance units.

Steve Morani, the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment, is a staunch supporter of the symposium and stated, “I have been involved with the DoD Maintenance Symposium for many years throughout my military and civilian career.  This premier event has no equal and provides the maintenance and sustainment communities a unique opportunity to engage with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and fellow colleagues. There is no other event like it to build life-long networks and no better bang for the buck!”

The theme of this year’s symposium, “Next Generation Materiel Readiness Forged through Data Advantage, Technology, and Innovation” offers a wide range of sustainment topics that are critical to defending the homeland and securing America’s interests around the globe. Plenary panel speakers will address the Department’s long‑term maintenance and sustainment strategy, contested logistics, and harnessing transformation.

“SAE is proud to support this forum for the public and private maintenance and sustainment communities. Representatives from all ranks and specialties will build professional networks and actively engage in constructive conversations to address vital national security issues of mutual interest,” said Frank Bokulich, Product Content & Business Development Manager, SAE International.

The symposium will be held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, December 12-15, 2022.  Registration is currently open for anyone from military, government, industry, and academia with a vested interest in DoD maintenance. This event has been reviewed and approved as a DoD event and accordingly meets Departmental guidelines for attendance by all Military Services, agencies, and industry.  Read the DoD-approved memo
