NASA’s Bob Pearce Added to Strong Lineup of Aerospace Sustainability Leaders at SAE’s AeroTech

Keynotes, Technical Programs, Award Presentation and More Focus on Sustainable Aviation

WARRENDALE, Pa. (Jan. 26, 2023)SAE International’s premier global aerospace technology event, AeroTech, is proud to advance the aerospace industry’s sustainability efforts by announcing that Bob Pearce, associate administrator, NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD), will deliver a keynote address on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. In NASA’s recent Sustainable Flight Demonstrator project announcement, Pearce, a member of SAE’s Aerospace Council, stated, “NASA is working toward an ambitious goal of developing game-changing technologies to reduce aviation energy use and emissions over the coming decades toward an aviation community goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.”

In addition, Val Miftakhov, founder and CEO, ZeroAvia, will share insight on his organization’s efforts to develop the World's first practical zero-emission aviation powertrain including flying the World’s largest aircraft powered with a hydrogen-electric engine. “This is a major moment, not just for ZeroAvia, but for the aviation industry as a whole, as it shows that true zero-emission commercial flight is only a few years away,” stated Miftakhov.

AeroTech’s technical program also features a NASA-organized Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) track and sessions on Environment and Sustainable Aviation. In addition to technical presentations and panels addressing sustainability and other critical topics, SAE will be presenting its inaugural Sustainable Aviation Award, and the SAE Aerospace Council and a suite of SAE standards committees will be meeting in conjunction with the event and be on-hand to discuss the critical role of standards supporting sustainability goals and achievements, current aerospace industry priorities, regulatory activities and certification requirements.

Taking place March 14-16, 2023, at the Fort Worth Convention Center, in Fort Worth, Texas, USA, AeroTech connects high-tech aerospace and engineering professionals from every facet of the industry to share information on and celebrate the latest technical achievements, confer on the practical application of technologies, discuss challenges and opportunities, and develop personal and business relationships to move the industry forward.

Keynote speakers addressing additional critical aviation advancements include:

  • Matt Holvey, Director, Intelligent Systems – Innovation, Bell, Textron Inc.
Holvey serves as director of Intelligent Systems for Bell’s Technology and Innovation team where he uses his engineering expertise to develop experimental aerospace products using artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies. He leads a dynamic team of technical engineers that master system-of-systems modeling, machining learning, IoT technology, and more to develop software solutions that enhance future and current aircraft.

  • Julie Brightwell, Flight Deck Chief Engineer, Boeing Commercial Airplanes
Brightwell’s team is responsible for the design of the major components, interfaces, and human factors for all Boeing Commercial Flight Decks and ensure a pilot/machine interface across all Boeing models that maximizes efficiency, operability, and safety.
