SAE Foundation’s 2023 Annual Celebration Raises Funds to Support STEM Education

Ford Motor Company’s Jim Farley Among Award Recipients Recognized for Outstanding Industry Leadership

WARRENDALE, Pa. (May 30, 2023) – The SAE Foundation hosted the 2023 Annual Celebration event on May 23, 2023, at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI. Now in its 25th year, the SAE Foundation Annual Celebration brings together students, teachers, volunteers, and donors to recognize and pay tribute to the career accomplishments and generous spirit of industry professionals who inspire the next generation of innovators.

The 2023 event welcomed hundreds of industry executives and raised more than $325,000 to support Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education through SAE’s A World In Motion (AWIM) program

This year’s event recognized Jim Farley, president and chief executive officer, of Ford Motor Company, as the recipient of the 2023 SAE Foundation Industry Leadership Award. “This honor is a testament to Jim’s prestigious career, dedication to community and education, and in recognition of the significant contributions Ford Motor Company has made toward the mission of SAE Foundation,” said Jamie Ferguson, Head of the SAE Foundation and STEM Learning. “Farley’s passion for automobiles and forward-thinking focus personify the spirit of the Industry Leadership Award and we are proud to honor him with this recognition.”

Additional evening award recipients included:
Dana Pless with the Ableson Award for Visionary Leadership, the highest recognition the SAE Foundation trustees bestow upon an individual who has exhibited exemplary leadership that benefitted SAE International or SAE Foundation.
Dan and Robin Nicholson with the Gordan Millar Award – funded by AVL, this award recognizes an individual that demonstrates continues support of the SAE Foundation’s mission.

SAE Foundation/DENSO Young Industry Leadership Awardees. This award recognizes individuals who are newer to the engineering field, have achieved significant career accomplishments, and shows potential for significant leadership growth.
