SAE’s Innovative STEM Program Chosen as Best-in-Class for Teaching and Learning
WARRENDALE, Pa. (August 23, 2023) – SAE International® is proud to announce that its A World In Motion® (AWIM®) Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) education program earned two prestigious Educators Pick Best of STEM® 2023 Awards, the only awards program judged by STEM educators. The awards program, operated in partnership with the National Science Teaching Association and MCH Strategic Data, and National Association of Biology Teachers, spotlights innovative products, technologies and services that are changing the world of STEM education.
SAE’s AWIM program earned the “CTE Champion: Engineering” and “Best of STEM: Engineering Inquiry-Based Program” with judges commenting, “SAE's A World in Motion, is a dynamic, long-lasting, beacon of real-world connected exploration. AWIM provides everlasting skill sets through their STEM curricular framework and it's no wonder that John Lloyd, a formula car leader, and AWIM graduate has kept his first engineered car model from this program in a glass case. The AWIM program meant so much to him when he was a student.”
“We are honored that STEM educators recognize the value SAE’s AWIM program provides students, both as a comprehensive STEM program AND as a strong CTE program,” said Jamie Ferguson, executive director of SAE Foundation & STEM Learning. “It validates our mission/objective of setting students on a path of lifelong learning and discovery - from early childhood through career.”
SAE’s AWIM program is an inquiry-based learning experience that brings STEM concepts to life, setting students on a path of lifelong learning and discovery. Starting with the youngest learners, from preschool through 12th grade, AWIM combines practical, experiential learning with mentorship from industry volunteers and university students as well as ongoing training and support for educators to provide equitable access to STEM.
AWIM is supported in part by funds raised by the SAE Foundation. The mission of the SAE Foundation is to increase student achievement and participation in STEM education to build a STEM-fluent workforce.
