SAE Aerospace Council Holds 162nd Meeting in Seville

Airbus Hosts Biannual Meeting at Spanish Facility

WARRENDALE, Pa. (Nov. 8, 2023)SAE International’s® Aerospace Council, the body which provides the governance, oversight and strategy for SAE aerospace technical committees and their standards, held its 162nd meeting in Seville on October 3rd – 4th, hosted by Airbus.

The two-day meeting brought together Council members from across the global aerospace community to engage on standardization subjects, topics of importance to the aerospace stakeholders worldwide and updates on the Council’s task teams including:

  • Improving time to market

  • Assessment of future technologies

  • Improvements through metrics

  • Virtual & hybrid meetings

  • Standards for certification

The meeting included presentations from the European Union Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and featured updates on enhancements to SAE’s StandardsWorks 2.0 platform as well as an overview of SAE’s Digital Standards Alliance.

A highlight of the meeting was a tour of the Airbus A400M Final Assembly Line at the Seville facility.

Airbus Head of Standards Management, and Aerospace Council Member Giovanni David noted: “It was a great honor for Airbus to have had the opportunity to organize the 2023 autumn session of the Aerospace Council.  Two days of intense and interesting exchanges between council members culminated in a visit to the Airbus D&S facilities where we had the opportunity to admire the production and development capabilities of our Seville site.  We look forward to meeting again for the next session in spring 2024!”
