WASHINGTON, D.C. (Nov. 16, 2023) – The Department of Defense (DoD) Maintenance Symposium, co-located with the SAE International® Defense Maintenance and Logistics Exhibition, is scheduled for December 18-21, 2023, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California. The Symposium is the only DoD event conducted by the Office of the Secretary of Defense solely focused on the maintenance of weapon systems and equipment.

The theme of the 2023 Symposium is “Cultivating Global Integrated Sustainment in a Contested Environment” and features a wide range of sustainment topics critical to defending the homeland and securing America’s interests around the globe:

  • Keynote Speakers will assess urgent issues that keep them awake at night and share their thoughts on how a resilient and responsive sustainment community must evolve to meet future requirements.
  • New for 2023, Technical Sessions geared towards the interests of company grade officers, warrant officers, and enlisted leaders have been added.
  • Plenary Panels will analyze organic industrial base resiliency, sustainment strategies for global integrated deterrence, and data as the linchpin for weapon system and equipment sustainment.
  • Breakout Panels will focus on regional sustainment framework; support of the organic industrial base; delivering resilient software capability; maintenance support in a contested logistics environment; partnering with Defense Logistics Agency to improve maintenance effectiveness and efficiency; attracting and retaining the modern-day workforce; and sustainment lessons learned through the GAO/DoD IG Lens.
