The purpose of this award is to bring an awareness of the beneficial impact provided to society at large that has been attained by mobility engineering through the use and power of quality in engineering. This serves to broaden the vision, scope and perception of SAE International as an organization, and highlights the contribution of individuals and their work in this area. The award also demonstrates the deeper scope and reach of SAE International and the mobility engineering professions to the public.
Dr. Subir Chowdhury is an SAE Fellow and a past recipient of the SAE Henry Ford II Distinguished Award for Excellence in Automotive Engineering. His works have provided many benefits and profoundly affected product/process and system design, time to market, cost reductions, quality improvements, manufacturing, and workforce knowledge in many U.S. industries and to Society at large.
The Subir Chowdhury Medal of Quality Leadership was established in 2010 to honor those in the mobility industry who bring forth innovation and broaden the impact of "quality" in mobility engineering, design and manufacture. This award recognizes Dr. Subir Chowdhury's contributions to the quality and engineering professions. The award consists of a framed certificate and a medallion.
This award is conferred upon a leader from academia or industry of recognized ability who has contributed their substantial skills and talent to accomplish the goal of advancing and promoting the principles and application of "quality" in Mobility Engineering professions.
