Engagement Rewards FAQ

What is the SAE Engagement Rewards Program?

 

SAE is introducing a new engagement model designed to incentivize volunteers for their contributions to our organization. This will be achieved by rewarding volunteers for their SAE activities with a pre-determined number of points.  SAE’s Engagement Reward Points can be used towards free or discounted SAE Membership.

Enrolling in SAE Engagement Rewards

 

1.) How do I enroll in SAE’s Engagement Rewards?

Because you are an active SAE Volunteer or SAE Member, you were automatically enrolled in this pilot program.

2.) How long is the Pilot Program?

The pilot ends September 30, 2019.

3.) How are my Engagement Rewards tracked?

We communicate program changes to you via email.  Please make sure to update your mySAE account with a current email address and your communication preferences so you are receiving your notification emails.

4.) When can I start earning Engagement Reward Points?

All bank accounts were prepopulated with any Engagement Rewards from January 1 – June 1, 2019. You will continue to receive additional points as qualifying volunteer opportunities are completed during the pilot program. This chart will help you understand when Engagement Reward Points will be deposited into your engagement bank account.

General Information about SAE’s Engagement Rewards

 

1.) Can I apply my reward points towards an SAE Membership through SAE India, SAE Brazil, etc.?

Engagement points are only applicable towards SAE Membership through SAE International, not any SAE affiliates such as SAE India, SAE Brazil.

2.) Is this program offered to student members of SAE International?

No, currently, the program is not available to student members.

3.) How many points to I need to get free or discounted membership?

4.) When/how can I redeem my Engagement Reward Points?

You can redeem your points when you have reached a threshold of 215 or 250 points. Please note, you do not have to redeem your points at the 215 point threshold, you can keep working toward free membership if you choose.

You redeem your points via the membership checkout process. When you are eligible for a redemption, you will see an option appear to redeem points toward the free or discounted membership. Select (check) that box and continue with the checkout process. You will see the free or discounted membership reflected in the summary before checkout is complete.

You can complete the process online or simply contacting customer service at customerservice@sae.org or 877-606-7323.  Please note, customer service will not be able to process memberships using Engagement Reward Points until June 15.

If you are a member, please note, you may renew your membership up to three (3) months early if you have enough Engagement Reward Points to apply towards free or discounted membership.  Please check your Engagement Bank Account on your mySAE home page for the most up to date information.

5.) Where can I see my Engagement Rewards Points balance?

Your Engagement Rewards Points are tracked on your mySAE homepage.

6.) How do I contact someone with a question about SAE’s Engagement Rewards?

7.)When do the points I earn after each qualifying activity post to my account?

Opportunities are finalized different times throughout the year. This chart will help you understand when Engagement Points will be deposited into your Engagement Bank Account and what activities are considered “qualifying” activities and, therefore, eligible for points.

Your mySAE account will be updated nightly as Engagement Points are added to your account.

12.) Can I opt to save my points for a free membership if I have enough points for a discount?

Yes, you can save your points.  Just be aware all points will expire at the end of the pilot program.

Engagement Rewards Account Information

 

1.) Where can I access my Engagement Rewards information? 

Engagement Rewards information can be found on mySAE.

2.) How do I log in to mySAE to access my Engagement Rewards information?

To access your Engagement Rewards information, you will need your SAE user ID and password.  If you do not know your SAE user ID and password, you can contact customer service at customservice@sae.org or click here.

3.) What should I do if I I believe points are missing form my Engagement Bank Account?

Engagement Bank accounts were prepopulated with points from January 1 – June 1, 2019. Additional points will continue to be added to the Engagement Bank Accounts for completed qualifying activities until the pilot program ends on September 30, 2019 at 12:00 PM EST. 4.) Will my account be closed if my points expire?

All Engagement Rewards accounts will be closed at the end of the pilot program and points will expire at that time.  Any points you have in your account must be used before the pilot closes on September 30, 2019.  Any reward points left in Engagement Bank accounts after that time will be forfeited.

5.) Where can I see my Engagement Reward Points balance?

Your engagement points are tracked on your mySAE homepage.

6.) How can I opt out of communications?

The pilot program and communications about the pilot program will automatically end on September 30.  You can opt out of the communications for this pilot program; however, doing so will also opt you out of receiving points for this pilot program.  If you wish to do so, please contact customerservice@sae.org.

Your Engagement Rewards Points will expire at the end of the pilot  program. The expiration date of your points is visible in your mySAE account. 

Accumulating and Redeeming Points

 

1.) How do I know when I have enough points for free or discounted membership?

You will receive an email letting you know you have reached the threshold for discounted (215 points) or free membership (250 points).  The information will also be visible in your mySAE account.

Information for SAE Members

 

My membership expires soon, and I don’t have enough points for a free or discounted membership – can I continue working towards the discounts through my volunteering efforts or do I need to renew now?

If you have your dues bill, you can continue working towards free or discounted membership until the end of the pilot.  At that time, your points will expire. Please remember to renew your membership before the end of September.
