SAE International announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airports Council International (ACI World). This agreement aims to support the sustainable development, growth and safety of the aviation industry. The MoU reinforces and builds upon this collaboration to ensure the development of appropriate standards needed to support the industry’s transition to alternative fuels, as well as the deployment of advanced air mobility operations at airports.
ACI World Director General Luis Felipe de Oliveira described the role that such agreements play in the future of aviation mobility.
“As we prepare to welcome 19.3 billion passengers by 2041, the development of appropriate standards that support the industry transition to alternative fuels and the deployment of advanced air mobility operations at airports are becoming more important. Through the exchange of information, knowledge, and expertise, the MoU sets up a framework for our mutual commitment to the aviation’s sustainable growth and development,” Luis said.
SAE and ACI World intend to foster collaboration by participating in each other’s working groups and committees—specifically those pertaining to the development of industry standards through the SAE International standard development process. Advanced Air Mobility and Alternative Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) will serve as key areas of interest as SAE and ACI World continue to foster the development of the aviation industry.
The two entities will also engage in the cross promotion of relevant activities, events, and publications to each other’s membership as well as appropriate governance bodies.
“The cooperation of global aviation stakeholders is an increasingly vital part of ensuring safety while facilitating innovation. As we support the community in advancing aviation technology and ensuring a sustainable future of flight through the development of global standards, we value our productive and important partnership with ACI World—and look forward to growing our cooperation,” SAE International CEO David Schutt said.
