The SAE Micromobility Battery Standards Committee has been re-organized and is actively seeking volunteers with 1 to 3 years of industry experience or applicable skills to help develop standards documents for the micromobility industry.
Micromobility refers to the use of small, battery-powered, and usually single-seat vehicles operating at speeds under 15 mph to move people short distances, typically in and around urban areas. The term encompasses products such as e-bikes, scooters, mopeds, e-motorcycles, and single seat electric cars. Vehicles that fit this definition may also be called Light Electric Vehicles (LEV) or Micro EVs.
These battery-driven and rechargeable vehicles require unique voltages, currents, connectors and other hardware for their charging infrastructure. They are part of a growing urban trend of shared and convenient transportation solutions.
The SAE Micromobility Battery Standards Committee addresses the topics of battery system standards required by this market, including: battery management systems, energy storage systems, and system interfaces for both vehicles and charging devices. The primary focus will be on the safe use of these systems.
If you have experience in this market, or related fields, and you would like to know more about joining the SAE Micromobility Battery Standards Committee, contact SAE committee manager Amanda Kibler at: amanda.kibler@sae.org.
