SAE International Journal of Commercial Vehicles

Special Issue on Autonomous Fleets and Optimization

Call for Papers

Transportation transformation is a continuous process. OEMs may have to assume the role of service providers, rather than simply being a traditional manufacturer. Automotive OEMs must develop software that is able to integrate with common platforms, and traditional automotive manufacturers must also enhance their digital capabilities. This trend has driven research and technology developments in advanced fleet operation methods, innovative data flow algorithms, and smart sensors for operation. With these increased research and technology developments, autonomous service delivery will soon become reality. This special issue will focus on new developments and research in the area of autonomous fleets, focusing on operational algorithms, communication, sensors, infrastructure of autonomous fleets, and optimization methods. The SAE International Journal of Commercial Vehicles and this special issue provide a peer-reviewed platform for both industry and academia to present new research and developments in this important area.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Operation and Management of Fleets
  • Route Optimization
  • Data Management – Cloud Integration
  • Data Security
  • Machine and Deep Learning techniques for fleet management
  • Smart Sensors and Tires for Fleets
  • Role of 5G technologies in operation
