Sand and Ceramic Casting Technology for Prototyping and “Bridge” Production of Complex Aluminum Die Cast Parts 2001-01-1048
Rapid product development and accelerated manufacturing often requires quick generation of production quality prototypes without the expense and lead times typically associated with die-cast tooling. This paper will review the new sand & ceramic casting technology and related engineering and manufacturing processes that have been specifically developed to satisfy these technical requirements. Focus is directed towards applications in automotive transmission component manufacturing for product development, performance testing, and producibility studies.
