Development of New Type Condenser (Super Multi Flow Condenser) Having Inner Fin Tube 2002-01-0949

The demand for environmental load reduction or fuel consumption reduction of a car is increasing globally. Higher performance and lighter weight demands are also increasing while allotted space for components is becoming more restrictive.
To meet these demands a new type condenser has been developed named the SMFC (Super Multi Flow Condenser). This condenser design will include a new type of tube, which consists of a tube shell formed by bending a flat plate and a wavy inner fin.
The outer air side surface becomes a louvered fin which shape is optimized into the most effective for air flow and heat transfer by use of a two and three dimensional CFD simulation.
The tube refrigerant side, with inner fin tube, was designed to give a pressure drop balance, including the header pipe, and this results in an even refrigerant distribution throughout even with the condenser's single refrigerant flow direction.
This results in a condenser of light weight, optimum size and superior performance.
