Multi-Body Dynamic Modeling Methods and Applications for Driveline Systems 2002-01-1195
Visteon has developed procedures that utilize both commercial and proprietary software to meet the growing demands of our customers to provide up front Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) analysis of our products. In response to the demand, Visteon has developed Visteon Axle & Driveline Simulation-Dynamics (VADSIM-DYNA) for the specific purpose of modeling driveline systems. This paper describes the methods and applications for multi-body dynamic modeling of driveline systems used in Visteon's Driveline Systems Department. An overview of the tools developed will be presented, including a description of the VADSIM-DYNA tool, and how they are applied specifically to driveline system modeling. This will be followed by examples of driveline systems incorporated into full vehicle models to help determine torque bias management strategies. Finally, the use of test data for validation of the full vehicle models will be discussed. Using these virtual models, engineers gain a better understanding of the driveline system and its contributions to the entire vehicle system behavior.
