Using the Rapid Prototyping Process - A Chance to Save Time and Costs 2002-01-2052

For the companies it is important to create fast new design parts. These models are important to start the production in the series. The aim is to be the first at the world-market, so you can get much money for your product without any contention mode.
But which technology is therefore the best? How long is the time to get a first prototype of the new product (for a photo in a journal or newspaper) or for a discussion of the design? And if it is possible to produce only a short number of parts of an high quality level? The aim of this presentation is to give some answers about all these questions.
Rapid Prototyping is the name of the new manufacturing method I want to explain the important points in this presentation. With this method - Rapid Prototyping was created and developed in 1987 - it is possible to produce models or parts from different materials: steel-powder (metal), plastics, paper or wax without any tool(s). The parts can used as a prototype or only for a presentation or discussion without any function. When the datas are created and checked the building process by the Rapid Prototyping machine can start. Generally the time of one night is sufficient to build the part.
