The Ridek: A Vehicle that Separately and Separatively Packages Machinery and Passengers 2002-01-2187

Splitting the vehicle horizontally into a lower motorized deck, or Modek, and an upper passenger compartment, or Ridon, that rides upon it both increases versatility and reduces cost. Typically, the Modek is rented, while the Ridon is owned. Locked together, they form the Ridek. When the Modek is battery powered, a full-function zero-emission Ridek results, whose effective range can be extended either by exchange for another Modek of the same type but freshly charged, or by exchange for a fuel-burning version, suitable for inter-urban travel. Economies result because, when a Ridon is not in use, the Modek can carry other Ridons.
