As our marketplace changes, we are moving from a component-focused environment to an integrated systems environment. As a result, relationships are being redefined from automaker/supplier to overall collaborative relationships. Content is no longer purely an automaker predetermined specification; it is collaboratively developed with the supply base. This necessitates cooperation with competition or “Co-Opetition”. Partnering of customers and the tier structure enables an expanded focus - redefined automotive interiors and “faster to market” products as demonstrated by the case study.
