Drive Circuit Modeling and Analysis of Electronically-Controlled Fuel Injectors for Diesel Engines 2003-01-3361
Advances in diesel fuel injection control are required to address global emissions requirements on the next generation of diesel engine systems. This has resulted in a plethora of new electronic fuel injector configurations. Each of these configurations includes a unique set of advantages and disadvantages. The challenge to the fuel system electronics designer is to quickly develop and evaluate all potential configurations and determine suitable electronic circuitry. Often, pre-prototype development cycles typical in this industry do not allow for comprehensive analytical design efforts. This drives a need for rapid “simulation based” analyses that minimizes development time while maximizing circuit compliance. This paper establishes a process for evaluating circuit designs via simulation, introduces state-of-the-art simulation processes, and demonstrates the efficacy of the results.
