AWD Vehicle Simulation with the Intelligent Torque Controlled Coupling as a Fully Controllable AWD System 2005-01-0552
Toyoda Machine Works has developed a “Vehicle Simulation” method for use in the development of an electronic All-wheel-drive (AWD) Coupling and ECU Control module. This simulation is based on the vehicle dynamics software, CarSim®. TMW Engineering integrated the AWD driveline model and the Coupler / ECU control model into the AWD system. The driveline model calculates the torque fluctuation caused by driveline stiffness, while the ECU model evaluates the new control strategy and calibrates the control maps and logic constants. This Vehicle Simulation tool, provides for improved development efficiency and a reduction in man-hour to develop a fully controlled AWD systems.
