Simulation of Dynamic Stresses Including Flexible Contacts Using MFBD Technology 2006-01-2886
The calculation of stresses and contact forces for moving parts under dynamic load is essential for durability analysis. The recently introduced MFBD (Multi-Flexible-Body Dynamics) technology allows a correct representation of flexible and complex contacts under full consideration of the system dynamics. MFBD combines for the first time the historically separated worlds of multi body dynamics and finite element analysis (FEA) and eliminates the well known deficits of modal reduction. With this approach the contact between flexible (FEA) parts as well as rigid bodies can be accurately predicted, and also resulting stresses are available immediately.
