The Automated Drilling System for Wing Panel 2010-01-1827

To eliminate the errors occurring in the wing panel assembly process and resulting in the drilling holes out of tolerance, the automated drilling system is designed. The camera and the normality sensors are integrated into the drill head. The system has a profit of more consistent holes that are more accurately placed.
This paper presents the automated drilling system as a viable alternative to conventional assembly drilling and provides the technical description of a cost effective design which results in flexibility, time and cost savings and consistency in results.
