As stated by a recent census, India has a population of 121.08 Crore of which 2.68 Crore peoples are disabled. Further, 53.6 Lakh people are affected by movement disability of which 62% are males and 38% are females. Transportation is a major issue for people with such physical and mobility impairments. The mobility impairment peoples can be further classified as people who have lost functionality of their leg and hand due to birth, diseases or accidents. Many commercial bike designs are available for bike riders with disability in their legs. They are powered to drive a vehicle designed with dummy rear axle. But still problem exists for bike riders with disability in their hands. Also, no commercial bike designs are available till date for people disability in their hand is not available in market. So, it was proposed to develop a bike for person with disability in their hand. To ride a bike steering, brake and acceleration controls has to be provided by an alternate method. The design of the steering system was done using of Autodesk Fusion 360 software. The designed steering system along with the frame was analyzed using the Finite Element Analysis software ANSYS workbench to assess the structural integrity of the design. Based on the successful analyses result the design was converted in to a complete working prototype. The testing of this working model was done with a person with forearm disability and found to be working satisfactory.
