Exhaust Fast Gas Analyzer Observations of Stochastic Preignition Events 2019-01-0254
In this work, crank angle resolved measurement of exhaust hydrocarbons, NO, CO, and CO2 was performed under engine conditions prone to stochastic preignition (SPI) events. Key features these species exhibit before, during, and after SPI events are identified and interpreted. While there is no definitive or predictive pattern to the behavior, this data allows for an improved understanding of the phenomena occurring in the combustion chamber when SPI events occur, and at conditions that are prone to SPI events.
