Customer satisfaction is a necessity for building the brand image of any organization. It can be achieved by providing best performing product with high reliability at minimum cost. Components reliability at customer end in real world usage profile is a key targets for a system design engineers.
Clutch is a significant and critical system in automobile powertrain, which consists of torque transferring components and its complex release mechanism. Clutch pedal is a primary customer interface part which operates the clutch system during vehicle driving conditions. Clutch parts reliability life is not only depends on the specific components design parameters but it also depends on the behavior of its interface parts, surrounding environment and the end customer’s usage pattern. This uncertain and uncontrolled environment throws a challenge during failure analysis which requires in depth technical knowledge of each components in different usage conditions and its effect on the other vehicle parts.
This paper is focusing on the finding the root cause for clutch release bearing failure and providing the solution for it, Which is experimentally correlated and validated on the customer vehicle in the real world usage pattern.
