Finite Element Contact Analysis of Stator and Rotor in a Screw Pump 2019-01-0813
The aim of this study is to develop a methodology to determine the contact between rotor and stator of a screw pump, under static and transient conditions, respectively, by using a two- dimensional finite element model. Because the velocity and the contact pressure were varied at the point of contact, it made the problem nonlinear and complicated, as the plane motion of the rotor in the stator. A finite element method, which incorporated a geometry analysis is developed to solve the problem. The variation of contact stress with the rotation frequency, friction coefficient as well as with the amount of interference is presented and discussed.
