ADAS application development for energy, gas emission and driving style using the cloud and CAN network 2019-01-0884
Vehicles efficiency depends on several factors such as driving style, surrounding conditions, fuel quality, among other features. For each route, there are optimal driving conditions we usually are not aware of. The work presented on this paper can be divided in two sections: Data processing and data display. The first section includes data acquisition and data processing, the last is possible thanks to the algorithms which are designed to estimate fuel consumption, gas emissions and define the user’s driving style. Also it shows how the data is collected. The second section consists in the design of a graphical user interface (GUI) which can display relevant information such as average speed, average fuel consumption, traveled distance and other parameters. In real time, the app advice the driver three indexes on energy, gas emisions and driving style. In the “cloud", the data is storaged through an application developed for Android. Then, data can be downloaded and then processed with an executable developed in Matlab for further analysis purposes. The main goal is to offer an accurate driving style profile so the user can modify certain driving decisions and hence improve fuel consumption and lower gas emissions.
