Development and utilization of 1D thermal management simulation model in automatic transmission 2019-01-0895
This paper presents 1D thermal management simulation model for AISIN AW automatic transmission assembly. There is a growing need for fuel efficient vehicle to control global environmental change caused by carbon dioxide emissions. High-performance automatic transmission is important as fuel efficient vehicle parts. And it has received a lot of attention.
There is one of ideas to improve efficiency of A/T Assy. This idea is that increasing oil temperature in A/T Assy promptly decrease viscosity resistance of oil. We can only study concrete plans based on the measurement results. It takes an enormous amount of time and cost.
Therefore , the technique which can predict the losses(gear, clutch, bearing and so on) , heat flow between the parts, heat flow between complicated oil flow and the parts, temperature on each constructed parts in A/T assy is necessary. We considered making 3D simulation model which is whole of A/T assy, The 3D simulation model which can replicate parts of losses and heat flow needs fine mesh , it takes amount of time to calculate. Furthermore Oil flow which influence heat transfer phenomenon in A/T assy is very complicated , So the possibility of using the 3D simulation model is low.
We develop 1D simulation model to calculate losses and heat transfer phenomenon. Additionally we model complicated lubrication oil passage circuit which flow each parts. This 1D model can predict temperature of each parts in A/T assy. In this paper, we present the validation of the 1D thermal management model and application examples.
