Flexible All Electric Riveter 2019-01-1333

A new style of all electric riveting machine with saddle hoppers has been developed but no track is required. The rivet fingers are brought to the hopper and rotated 30 degrees for reliable feeding. The upper ram has a bent knee which allows the fingers to be brought up to the hopper rather than the rivet sliding down a track. This enhances reliability. Also allows for a mixture of standards to be loaded side by side in the hoppers. For example on the slide rail we can mount 8 hoppers. We can have 3/16 rivets, 5/32 rivets, 5/16 bolts, all side by side in adjacent hoppers. We can feed square rivets without difficulty. Due to the ability to load side by side hoppers with a variety of standards we call it the Flexriveter. To make the finger change out easy the Flexriveter ram features a power drawbar. Above the drawbar is the air gap panel protection system (US Patent 10,065,235). The Flexriveter comes equipped with a side mounted Kuka KR10 programmable robot. The robot is mounted on the right side and the operator pendant is on the left side. This keeps the operator safe from the robot. The robot is linked to the riveter Siemens PLC control so it can complete coupons of various types. The side mounted robot can also allow the Flexriveter to complete small assemblies. For larger assemblies you use a larger robot or a CNC positioner. For the applications which we have discussed with customers they consider keeping the side mounted robot and supplementing with a larger CNC positioner. Also the side mounted robot does not inhibit use of the robot as a semi-automatic riveting machine.
