Roof Thermal Management Simulation under Solar Load 2021-01-0825
Nowadays with the trends of the Automotive Industry and the more intelligent and advanced vehicles, the package of components has become a challenge. The increase in the number of these and the decrease in the package space due to design trends and disruption in new technologies make the engineers look for new zones to package and new challenges need to be overcome. To study the environment for the package under solar load in the Roof zone of automotive vehicles, a Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) simulation process is discussed taking into consideration different Roof colors, as well as the correlation with Radiation Chamber under Solar Load conditions. The correlation with Radiation Chamber is shown and the prediction capability of the CAE methodology is demonstrated for future method application in the vehicle program design process. This work development focus on the thermal dynamics of the phenomenon using CAE software TAITherm®, two different vehicles in two different, Radiation Chambers and two regions are used as raw data to correlate the prediction capability of the method presented in this study, both vehicles are modeled using conventional Mesh Software and results are compared for the analytical method development. For the thermal simulation, the Roof Model includes the external and internal roof surfaces and a cabin volume simplification, to compare the temperatures on the thermocouple’s location of experimental data.
