Customer satisfaction is one of the crucial expectations from a product design and development perspective. This paper proposes a wholistic approach for design and development of a propulsion system to satisfy the Best-In-Class NVH performance of the product from advanced concept phase to validation. Quality function deployment (QFD) methodology has been successfully used to base the target setting and defining NVH KPIs, upon the voice of customers (VOC). The proposed process consists of seven stages: namely, voice of customer collection, Customers competitive assessment, strategic target setting, measurement, technical competitive assessment, correlation, and finally definition of the targets. Through an exhaustive comparison between the current product NVH performance with the targeting product in terms of newly defined KPIs, the opportunities to improve have been identified and the required countermeasures have been designed and validated. Finally, a Proof-of-Concept product has been demonstrated to the stakeholders to ascertain final customer satisfaction. Overall, the proposed approach is initiated from the customer’s requirements and ended up in delivering those requirements to the customers.
