This paper describes the concept and design of a new series of power shift transmissions for heavy equipment.
A unique gear and clutch configuration provides the basis for both a drop and a through output type of transmission. The arrangement allows the multiple use of parts, both within a transmission and between different sizes of transmissions. Clutch life has been greatly increased by the application of proven experience factors.
Power shift transmissions need not be complicated, and as such will provide new records of service and reliability.
