Integration Aspects of the Environmental Control System for a Large Space Station 640293

The environmental control system (ECS) for a large manned space station is not merely a collection of individual subsystems. Rather, it is the result of an integration of the various subsystems into a unified package, the purpose being to minimize system weight, cost, and complexity. This paper highlights some of the aspects of ECS integration to illustrate the “systems” approach to ECS design. A representative system is used to illustrate some of the concepts discussed.
