New Equipment for Exploring the Dynamic Behavior of Tires 640401
The new Dynamics Characteristics testing machine controls the orientation of a tire in steering, camber, and deflection as the tire rolls against a moving road wheel. Motions are independent of each other and follow various time-functions available from special signal generators. The rates of adjustment are comparable to those that occur in vehicles. A strip chart records the displacement and the force and torque reactions of the tire as functions of time. Through the appropriate choice of input signals, various functional properties of tires and their associated parameters become available for study.
