The high-speed highway environment of today places great demands upon the physiological and perceptual capabilities of the driver's visual system. Suggestions for reducing accidents and fatalities on the road are offered from the standpoint that vision is the one common denominator in all the four elements involved in highway safety - the vehicle operator, the vehicle itself, the highway, and the highway environment.
