The Role of Flow Improvers in Solving Autodiesel Winter Fuel Problems 660372

Flow improved fuel was shown to be highly effective in providing good low temperature performance in autodiesels. At Bemidji, Minn., a controlled field test demonstrated that in terms of autodiesel operability at low temperatures flow improved fuel is equal to or better than lower cloud kerosene diluted fuel. It was also found that fuel system design features could affect low temperature operations. Two commercial truck fleets, using flow improved fuel in the northern Midwest, had completely satisfactory winter operations. Laboratory flow tests correlate with the field performance of the Bemidji fuel.
