This technique, called statistical monitoring, offers unique potential for improving product reliability and performing system diagnostics. This paper presents the principles underlying the statistical monitoring concept, the techniques for applying the data to reliability and diagnostic problems, and a discussion of the program for incorporating the method in a general reliability improvement program.
